Urban communities are complex systems that rely on their infrastructures to provide citizens with access to services that make their living functional and as convenient as possible. Provision of water, energy, mobility, waste disposal, emergency frameworks or public information systems are essential to build communities that work for all and serve people’s needs. The new generation of solutions around the smart city movement entails a promise not only of modernization but also an opportunity to rethink these infrastructures to ensure equitable access. The session is aimed at reflecting on these potentials and how to develop the infrastructures of the coming future.
